Application guide
Balancing smoke exhausters and draft fans
Ash buildup and abrasive wear constantly shift the balance of draft machines; periodic on-site correction protects the bearings between overhauls.
Specifications checked: September 2026

Direct answer
Can a smoke exhauster be balanced without removal?
Yes. After the impeller is cleaned and inspected for cracks and wear, correction weights are welded or bolted to the impeller in one or two planes at the calculated angles.
Before the first run
Mechanical checks come first
- Clean ash and slag deposits from the impeller before any measurement.
- Inspect blades for abrasive wear, cracks and previous weld repairs.
- Check bearing temperatures, expansion joints and a repeatable damper position.

Order of work
A controlled balancing sequence
- 01
Run at the normal process condition with dampers fixed in a repeatable position.
- 02
Mount sensors on both bearing pedestals and route cables away from hot surfaces.
- 03
Record the baseline, then fit a trial weight to the impeller back plate or a blade.
- 04
Weld or bolt the calculated correction at the marked angle and radius.
- 05
Verify the result, then re-inspect welds and fasteners after the first thermal cycles.

Not sure which system fits your machine?
Just write what machine you have — a fan, a crusher, a pump, anything that rotates. Our engineers will take it from there and confirm the right setup before you order.
